Jamaica Records Highest Covid-19 Outbreak In 24 Hours Since Start Of The Pandemic
The Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton has given an account of the current numbers concerning the Covid-19 pandemic and in 24 hours ending on Sunday afternoon, Jamaica has recorded its highest number of infections in one day with 879 cases.
This surge in new cases now brings the total count to 62,712 and it includes 509 females and 370 males between the ages 2 days old to 96 years of age.
145 cases were recorded in Kingston & St. Andrew, 121 in Manchester, 109 in St. James, 109 in Westmoreland, 105 in St. Catherine, 60 in St. Elizabeth, 56 in Clarendon, 52 in Hanover, 48 in Trelawny, 42 in St. Thomas, 17 in St. Ann, 13 in St. Mary and 2 in Portland.
In addition to the new cases that have been discovered and the now 13,140 active concerns; 83 patients have been regarded as being severely ill, while 60 persons are reported to be in critical conditions.
The current hospital count for Covid-19 patients stands at 607 however with the new Delta variant of the virus on the loose, this number seems very vulnerable to increase.
