Fraser Pryce, Jackson WILL NOT RUN 100m at Diamond League Final on Thursday

After a trailblazing track and field season that saw veteran female Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce seizing a silver medal in the female 100 m Olympic sprint event, as well as a personal best of 10.60 seconds in the same event at the Diamond League classic held in Lausanne, she has now opted not to run at the Wanda diamond League Final set for Zurich on Thursday.

The news was revealed after the list of the top female athletes were named and Fraser-Pryce was not seen among them.

As per the diamond League competition, the top eight athletes in the 100-meter to 800-meter races with the highest accumulated points would have qualified the run in the finals being held on Thursday.

That would have meant that with the inclusion of Shelly-ann, who placed either first and second in all her Diamond League races would have lined up alongside female double sprint Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah and the other spectacular female talents.

Sadly, for the Jamaican women’s team member Shricka Jackson, she will not be taking part in the finals women’s 100m either as she recently withdrew herself as well, however, Shericka is expected to run in the 200m final.

Paul Doyle who manages Fraser-Pryce confirmed, through trackalerts.com that the 33-year-old Sprinter will not take part in the finals of the diamond League competition since it was not in their plans.

In finishing out her season, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce alongside the Ivory Coast’s number one female Sprinter Ta Lou has already secured 28 points, to take the top position while Thompson-Herah and Jackson have third and fourth place with 23 and 19 points respectively.

The showdown will be one to look out for as Elaine will run against athletes such as Daryll Neita, and Dina Asher-Smith from Great Britain, Javianne Oliver, Ajla Del Ponte and Mujinga from Switzerland.

This is a much-anticipated race since it is the last Diamond League event for the year, and already, athletes such as Thompson-Herah and Ta Lou have been running superb times since the inception of this season.
