Several polls were also done islandwide with regards to who was the most influential Jamaican of 2021, Elaine was the name that stood at the top of most of the polls.

Thompson-Herah placed her feet down in 2021 as the single most impressive athlete even going on to break Florence Griffith-Joyner’s record that stood from 1988, until it was smashed by the new sprint queen in an impressive 10.61 seconds. This win placed her before the very fast Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson who had been running well all season as well.

What is remarkably interesting about the female sprinter is how she managed to also remain consistent throughout a very competitive season where she ran both in the Olympics and the many track meets before and after.

Speaking about the Tokyo Olympics, Elaine was nothing less than superior on the track as she also copped a gold medal in the 200-meter finals running an impressive time of 21.53 seconds finishing in front of Christina Mboma, and then going on to secure a gold medal in the 4*100 meter relays with her team consisting of Shericka Jackson, Briana Williams, and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce.

The big world shocker came at the Prefontaine Classic, however, when the female sprinter proved that she is in a different class by herself by running a stunning 10.54 seconds making her the second-fastest female of all time, right now, behind Florence Griffith Joyner with her 100 meter record time of 10.49 seconds.

As a result of her superb performances, the 5-time Olympic gold medalist was recently awarded by the International Sports Press Association as the Athlete of the year after securing top points in a poll even beating top footballers in her win, she was also acknowledged by the Diamond League organizers for being the most consistent female sprinter in 2021.
