Jamaican Winsome Earle-Sears Becomes Lieutenant-Governor In The United States

Jamaicans are surely different in their approach to life and one thing that always happens is that those persons from the island who move abroad to live, usually end up being well recognized even if they have done the worst things possible. Today, however, we will be speaking of someone who has achieved greatness.

The latest Jamaican to be given a high calibre recognition is Winsome Earle-Sears who on Monday began serving her term as a part of the senate in the state of Virginia, after becoming the first woman to serve as Lieutenant Governor and the first of her colour to hold office on a statewide level and the second to do so behind Mary Sue Terry who had gotten the position in 1985.

Earle-Sears went to the United States to live as a little girl when she immigrated from Jamaica. As a result of her hard work over the years, she was elected for the first time in 2001, to become the first Black Republican woman.

Some of the responsibilities the new Lieutenant Governor has been bestowed with in the past include serving on the state board of education, having the responsibility as national chair of an organization that was created in hopes of reelecting Donald Trump.

Earle-Sears was also in the past a director of a women’s homeless shelter and along with her Governmental work, the new Lieutenant Governor has also established herself in the business of plumbing and electrical supply, owning her own company in the field.
