PNP Standing Up For ‘Peter Bunting’ After Being Accused Of Issuing Firearm License To Criminals
The People’s National Party has decided to take a stand for Senator Peter Bunting regardless of the Integrity Commission’s decision to have two persons flagged, who the Politician was said to have commissioned to get gun licences.
The persons were flagged according to Loop Jamaica News based on them having questionable characters in the sense where traces of them being connected to criminal activities have been established. These individuals were said to have been granted the licences during Bunting’s term as security Minister.
Last Wednesday the matter of the characters of the individuals were raised in parliament due to a report that was drafted by the ‘Integrity Commission of Investigations on Allegations concerning Acts of Impropriety, Irregularity and corruption in the issuance of firearm user licences to persons of questionable character’.
In his defence on Friday Peter Bunting spoke to the fact that he acted within the capacity of his ministerial responsibilities, which was also backed by the PNP who said the Senator acted within his authority and the scope of the review panel and their recommendations.
To further defend the Senator, the PNP has mentioned that there has been no information from the investigations that suggests that the Politician’s decision was influenced by improper motives. The party also declared that there was no indication based on the details of Bunting’s statement that pointed to him being guilty of the allegations.

The fire on Peter Bunting’s tail has intensified since Friday’s resignation of Robert Montague who called it quits as Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic growth and job creation after he was also flagged by the (FLA) for issuing firearm licenses to 6 persons alleged to have criminal connections.
For Bunting, the Jamaicans for Justice advocacy group has called for the opposition leader Mark Golding to dismiss the senator from his ministerial responsibilities.
