Yaksta Explains To Onstage Readiness To Perform Live
St. Mary based artiste Yaksta has been creating waves since his arrival on the music scene but has not gotten much of a chance to perform his songs at a live event, however, on Saturday the entertainer made an onstage appearance to make it known that he will be changing that very soon as he is due for an appearance on a Kingston show for the first time.
According to what the “Ambition” artiste told Winford Williams, he has been performing with a live band for some time now but it was just recently he was able to set eyes on Kingston with a booking at Bamboo lawn, on Barbican Road that will see his fellow entertainer 10 Tik also make an appearance.
In his case, Yaksta told the Onstage host that he has been ready and has been taking his performance notes from the elders via youtube while learning and developing his stagecraft on his journey to get better each time. To explain his level of readiness, the entertainer referenced his first official show in 2016 in Ocho Rios for which he stated he performed and did well even though no one knew the song.
As for the pandemic holding back the career of artistes, the newcomer to the Dancehall scene said that there was no unfortunate circumstance for him or the other entertainers who got their break within the time period since it was just a moment when Jamaicans needed to hear something different and so even though they did not get to exploit their talent to the maximum then, he stated the time is now, added to the fact that the time off stage allowed him and the others to build their catalogue of songs that the people now know.
As for the expectation of feedback that he will get for singing his hit song “Ambition”, Yaksta explained to Winford who asked him about performance nervousness by stating that whether he gets a forward or boo the people will still know who he is so he is in no way bothered.
The entertainer also went on to diminish the thought of performance intimidation by stating that fear is relative and one should not let emotions take over but only learn the lessons and do better. He even for a moment went in a little on the marketing aspect of music to explain his point stating that everyone will have a different liking and how well he does on stage will be based on the crowd he is facing.
