Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Credits 2nd Place In 4x100m Relay To Lack Of Practice – They Wanted To Set New World Record – Interview – Watch Video

Five-time Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was interviewed by reporters after the Jamaican team secured the silver medal in a time of 41.18 seconds at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

During the interview, Fraser-Pryce who is known for her warm and bubbly personality shared that she is currently in the best of health, apart from a toe injury that she suffered in 2016. Fraser-Pryce was then asked about going for the record for the most medals, she replied saying that she is not focused on going for the record with the most medals, as her main aim is to run 10.5 seconds before the season ends, a goal that she believes is attainable.

As it relates to the silver medal that the team received earlier in the women’s 4x100m relays, Fraser-Pryce noted that the main aim was to secure the gold medal for Jamaica in a world record time, however, she is still thankful that they were able to medal in the event.

She further added that one of the things that affected them as a country in the relay event is that Jamaica does not have a relay camp, therefore, they hardly practice. Fraser-Pryce expressed that she is hoping that the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), which is the governing body for athletics in the country, will decide to have a camp dedicated to facilitating relay training for athletes.

“I definitely think it’s one of the things that affects us as a country, in terms of our relay practice because we don’t have relay camps, we don’t do relay. I’m hoping one day our federation will decide to do it and we’ll try and make it happen but we don’t,” she said.

Yesterday at 9:30 p.m. (JA time), the quartet of Kemba Nelson, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson placed second behind Team USA who secured the goal in the women’s 4x100m with a time of 41.14 seconds.
