6 Jamaican Men Convicted Of Cultivating Massive Weed Farm In The Bahamas
Six Jamaican nationals were sentenced on Thursday to two and a half years each in prison for cultivating a four-acre ganja farm in North Andros in the Bahamas.
A news report published by the Nassau Guardian stated that the men were arrested on August 14 by officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit after two days of undercover work. They have been identified as Leroy Douglas, Walford Reid, Jermaine Jones, Devon Simpson, Bruce Palmer, and Everton Palmer.
The men appeared before Presiding Judge Samuel McKinney where they pleaded guilty to the charges of conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with intent to supply, possession of dangerous drugs, and cultivation of dangerous drugs.
According to reports, the illegal farm had 25,000 plants and 20,000 seedlings worth B$2.5 million.
The four men were also imposed with a penalty of US $7,500 or an additional six months imprisonment. They were also fined US $250 or an extra month added to their sentence for the four grams of ganja that were seized during a raid at their home.
