Couple Gunned Down in Clarendon 24 Hours After Their Son’s Body Was Found
One day after a man’s body was discovered with several gunshot wounds, his father and stepmother were murdered by gunfire in Toll Gate, Clarendon. On Tuesday afternoon, Evan and his wife, Alicia Francis, were shot to death when they returned home and attempted to enter their yard.
According to reports, the businessman drove to their house around 5:30 p.m. and exited his vehicle to open the gate. Alicia was still seated in the front of the car when the gunmen attacked, shooting them multiple times. The armed men fled into the bushes and when the police responded to the alert, they found Alicia dead inside the car and Evan’s body with gunshot wounds to his upper torso and right wrist.
Their 39-year-old son, Kenrick Francis, a taxi operator, was discovered dead along the Spring Plain main road in Milk River of the parish on Monday. His body was found by persons who alerted the police, who discovered him with multiple gunshot wounds. It is alleged that the murders stemmed from a family feud over land.
Reports from Irie FM state that Uphell Purcell, Councillor for the York Town Division, visited the scene of the double murder on Tuesday. The councillor issued a statement, mentioning the allegation and explaining what happened.
“There seem to be some family feud or something of the sort that seems to be the problem, that’s what some persons are saying, and the death of the son caused the death of the father,” he said. He continued to say that Kenrick’s father sold juice to schools and picked up his stepmother at a carwash where she worked.
According to Purcell, the stepmother seemingly tried to escape because one of her feet was hanging outside the opened car door. He also stated that Kenrick was killed while heading to his home in Springfield after leaving the Duke Street area.
