Jamaican Man Sentenced in the U.S For Making Ghost Guns
A Jamaican man residing in the United States was arrested and charged after being caught making illegal guns with a 3D printer in his apartment.
Known by the alias ‘Brain’, 31-year-old Audley Reeves and an accomplice were apprehended on January 5, 2022, following an investigation that led to the discovery of ghost guns. These weapons are homemade firearms without serial numbers or any other distinguishable feature that can be traced to the owner, seller, or manufacturer.
Reeves was subsequently sentenced in a US District Court on November 17, to one year and six months in prison after pleading guilty to engaging in manufacturing firearms without a license.
His co-accused, John Lee Ortiz also pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and one count of dealing in firearms without a license. He is scheduled to appear before the court for sentencing in February 2023.
Reportedly, undercover officers made controlled purchases of several unserialized handguns and used a court-ordered search warrant to gain access to the apartment.
The search led to the seizure of 6 fully assembled, and 25 partially assembled ghost guns, 3 full magazines, firearm parts, and tools for configuration. Also, a 3D printer was found to be in the process of making stock for a rifle.
