Leon Bailey, Aston Villa EPL Defeat to Liverpool on Monday – Watch Goals and Highlights
Aston Villa returned to the EPL season after the World Cup break with a not-so-creditable performance by Jamaican starlet Leon Bailey. Aston Villa was slow out of the blocks for most of the first 45 minutes and was outplayed by a resurgent Liverpool side for most of the game. However, the Villans came back storming in the second period and scored a well-deserved team goal. It would be the only joy Villa fans would share as Liverpool youngster Bajcetic ended any doubt with a smart finish to end the game 3-1.
Even though Leon Bailey was not present at the recent World Cup in Qatar, he was still in the headlines for the comments he made on the “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. Bailey did not hold back in critiquing the Jamaica football Administration (JFF). The former Bayern Leverkusen star claims the JFF made things difficult for him and the Phoenix Academy, as it regards garnering a visa to pick up his first contract in Europe, Phoenix where his dad is the manager. Craig Butler who tutored the world-class potential player has had his fair share of run-ins with the controversial JFF.
The talent merchant has started off like a runaway train under the new management of the three-time back-to-back Europa League Winner Unia Emery, who has picked up six points in his first two English Premier League matches. The winger has two man-of-the-match performances under the new manager, who has expressed his admiration for the highly touted player. Almost every top football analyst agrees that Bailey could become a target of a top-six side if he remains healthy.
The 25-year-old Bailey, who recently celebrated his birthday, currently has three goals and two assists, with his latest goal coming against a revitalized Manchester United. The winger put on a master class against the Red Devils and played a crucial part in all three goals. Who was unplayable for most of the game, the Villa ace attracted the attention of Argentina World Cup-winning defender Martinez, with whom they had numerous heated encounters after being dominated by the Jamaican superstar.
