In her 400m season opener race, Shericka “Jacko” Jackson crushed the field, the World Champion clocked 53.11 to win the Women’s 400m event at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson meet at the National Stadium, on Saturday, as she prepared for the upcoming season.

Jackson shared that she was somewhat pleased with her first outing of the season in an interview the former Vere Technical starlet gave after her sparkling run in the event she dominated in high school.

“Jacko” Jackson told a reporter that the 55.11 she clocked was a pretty good run, even though she wanted to go faster but was even happier that she remained healthy after the race.

Shericka Jackson had a tremendous 2022 campaign, losing out narrowly to Shelly-Ann Frazer-Pryce for the 2022 RJR Sportswomen of the Year award.

With one of the fastest 200m times in history, Jackson dominated the 200m event last season, winning the event at the World Championships in 21.45 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in history. Shericka is looking to win back-to-back World Championship titles in the 200m event in this year’s staging slated for Hungary and has her sights set on the record.

As she continued with the interview, she expressed that she had long put last year’s performances behind her, and she and her team are all looking forward to a successful season this year. It is also expected that Shericka Jackson will stake her claim to a 100m World Championship title in Hungary.
