Popcaan Speaks Out Against River Poisoning Amid Reach Falls Closure – See Post and Watch Videos
Dancehall artiste Popcaan has become a frequent visitor to the Jamaica countryside, often sharing his country-style adventures on social media. Following a fish kill at Reach Falls in Portland, Popcaan has spoken out about the poisoning of the river.
Reach Falls was recently temporarily closed by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) after a fish kill in the river. According to reports, the organisation found evidence that suggested toxic chemicals had been used to catch fish in the area. Dead fish and crayfish have left a stench at the location that has been described as unbearable.
The closure of the popular tourist location is expected to have adverse effects on local vendors and their families, who depend on the area as a source of income. An infuriated Popcaan reacted to news of the local attraction’s closure on Tuesday in his Instagram Stories while resharing an article from the Jamaica Star.
“Man them stop poisoning the river them an go s**k unu m**a. Poison a whole river for your own personal gain,” Popcaan wrote, chiding the culprits.
The Everything Nice deejay went on to share his recent trip in the hills of Jamaica and his trials to find some freshwater crayfish known locally as Janga.
