Spice Celebrates “Go Down Deh” Racking up Over 188 Million Views on YouTube – See Post

On Monday, Queen of Dancehall Spice celebrated the two-year release anniversary of arguably her most successful collaboration to date, Go Down Deh, as its music video surpassed 188 million views on Youtube.

The track was written by Spice, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Dimitrui Silivu Aurelian, Shane Hoosong, and Constantin “Costi” Ioniță, who also served as the song’s producer. Go Down Deh, a collaborative single between Spice and dancehall stalwarts Sean Paul and Shaggy, was released on May 1, 2021. It has amassed 188,646,938 views on YouTube after hitting its first massive milestone, 100 million views, in July 2022.

The dynamic trio of artistes combined their musical talents for the first time for the Go Down Deh single, which would serve as the leading track on Spice’s debut studio album, 10, released that same year via VP Records. 10 went on to gain Spice her first Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album.

The song gained massive international notoriety, with American media organization National Public Radio (NPR) dubbing it the dancehall track of the year and featuring the single on its 100 Best Songs Of 2021 list. Go Down Deh also gained a prime spot on former United States president Barack Obama’s annual list of favourite songs.

Acknowledging Go Down Deh‘s success, Spice called on her fans on Instagram on Monday to help her celebrate the single’s second anniversary and thanked Shaggy and Sean Paul for their work on the track. The artiste had previously noted that the trio had come together to represent Jamaica and dancehall culture and praised Go Down Deh for opening many doors in her career.
