Isat Buchanan RESIGNS From PNP Human Rights Commission
Following his problematic interview with YouTube talk show host Andre Stephens, Increasingly controversial attorney at law Isat Buchanan has tendered his resignation as the chairman of the People’s National Party (PNP) Human Rights Commission.
Buchanan, attorney to incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, recently appeared on Stephens’ show, during which the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Paula Llewellyn, was mentioned.
Buchanan, who declared that he was a messenger and simply repeated the words of Kartel, had quoted his client’s single The Menace on the live stream, stating, “Speaking of cocky, yo Paula, go s**k a d***.”
A clip from the interview quickly went viral on social media, garnering disapproval, with Gender Affairs Minister Olivia Grange calling for PNP President Mark Golding to fire Buchanan.
Subsequent to Buchanan’s latest controversial statements, the PNP announced in a release on Monday that the attorney has made his intention to step down known to Golding.
According to the release, Buchanan believes that his resignation is in the PNP Party’s best interests as his statements regarding Llewellyn “do not reflect the values of the People’s National Party.”
The release went on to disclose that the party had accepted his resignation and thanked Buchanan for his service to the Commission as well as his contributions.
