King was allegedly abducted and killed by unknown assailants in January 2022 after they attacked his mother and drove off with him in her car. Leon-Issa has contested multiple court rulings to provide the police with the passcode to access her phone to aid the probe into King’s death.

Leon-Issa’s breach of privacy application sought to have the Supreme Court dismiss an earlier ruling by the lower court that granted the authorities access to her phone. However, on Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed her petition.

Leon-Issa is required to grant the police access to her phone by 4 p.m. Friday. Explaining its ruling, the Supreme Court said that the benefits that would be gained from granting the authorities access “far outweigh the breach of privacy of the claimant.”
