Jamaica Wins Silver Medal in Women’s Curling Competition

Jamaica once again shined on the international world stage by securing an epic second-place win at the Pan Continental Curling Championships in Kelowna, Canada.
The Caribbean country officially joined the World Curling Federal in 2022 as the 67th member and the second in the Caribbean after Guyana to be accepted by the governing body. This status allows the country to compete in international events.
Curling is a sport that is played on ice where two teams take turns sliding stones made of granite toward a target known as a House. It has been mainly dominated by countries such as Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, and Sweden.
The women’s curling team in Jamaica consists of team members, Cristiene Hall-Teravainen, Madeleine Spurgeon, Stephanie Chen, and Margot Shepherd-Spurgeon.
In the finals of the B-Division, the women from China, led by Han Yu were successful in the competition to beat Jamaica by 11-3 and claim the gold medal, while Jamaica secured the silver medal.
