Jamaica’s Young Sprint Star is a Big Fan of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Bella Brown “wants to be an Olympian”

Under-eight female sprint champion Bella Brown who captured the hearts of many Jamaicans over the weekend is said to be a huge fan of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown.

The young sprinter who represented Jamaica won her race in 8.66 seconds while competing in the U8 (under-8) 60m/55m race final at the Millrose Games in New York.

Notably, Jamaica already has the fastest man in history, now the island can also boast about having the fastest female child in the world.

According to Bella’s mother, Sandra Harris the young sprinter has been watching Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce over the years, from “about four years old” and seemingly copied her “form” and style of sprinting.

“We watch clips all the time. She watched them run. All the time she looks at their form. She looks at how they relax when they’re running even though they’re running hard. So yeah, she watches Shelly-Ann Fraser (Pryce) all the time and Veronica (Campbell-Brown) too,” the proud mother explained.

According to Sandra, Brown was upbeat about the race and “trained very hard” leading up to the event. The excited mother outlined that Bella was particularly focused on getting a good start in the race which she seemingly did.

“She came in very confident. She said she’s gonna win,” said Sandra who is also a former 100m and 200m sprinter. Bella’s father is also said to be a former athlete. Bella’s mother’s side of the family hails from Westmoreland Jamaica.

The optimistic mother went on to detail that “Bella wants to be an Olympian,” she also highlighted that in the future, there is no telling as to which country she would like to represent in the sport, the U.S. or Jamaica.

Despite Sandra favouring her daughter representing the island, the beaming mother outlined that she will be in full support of her daughter regardless of the country she chooses to represent in the future.
