Aaliyah Lykins of Indiana, U.S.A., was arrested and charged after the young mother’s second infant died while sleeping with her in the same bed.
Prior to the death of her infant daughter, Addilynn Lykins, the 21-year-old’s son, Aiden Lykins, passed away under the same circumstances.
Aiden died in 2020 while sleeping with his mother in bed, with Lykins allegedly telling the authorities that she was aware that it was wrong and that she should not have been sleeping with the 7-week-old.
While Lykins was not arrested for the death of her son, the young mother was apprehended by the police after the October 2023 death of her daughter, Addilynn. According to reports from the New York Post, Addilynn was found “limp, with no signs of respiration.”
Lykins, who had fallen asleep with the newborn while breastfeeding, allegedly said, “Oh no, I did it again,” while first responders were at the scene. The 2-week-old infant was later pronounced dead after she could not be resuscitated.
Lykins was slapped with two felony charges this month: reckless homicide and neglect of a dependent.
In addition to the felony charges, Lykins has other pending cases; among them are her arrests for domestic battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman.
