Smith is accused of murdering the 10-month-old daughter of parliamentarian Phillip Paulwell, along with her mother, 27-year-old Toshyna Patterson.

Smith is accused of fatally shooting Patterson and baby Sarayah, who were abducted from their home on Gilmour Drive in St. Andrew on September 9.

The victims were reportedly murdered in east Kingston, where their bodies were subsequently burned.

Leoda Bradshaw, who is the partner of Paulwell and a United States Navy petty officer, allegedly orchestrated the murders. Smith, Bradshaw, and co-accused Roland Balfour appeared in court on March 6.

Smith requested an attorney since he had no legal representation, leading to the court ordering legal aid assigned to him.

Additionally, the other two defendants attended the court proceedings remotely.
