KC and Edwin Allen Take the Lead as Champs 2024 Nears its End
As the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships 2024 nears its end, Kingston College (KC) and Edwin Allen High School enter the final day of the event on top, with KC seeking their third consecutive win.
As one of the most prestigious high school track and field events locally, the annual Boys and Girls Championships allows the next generation of track stars to showcase their skills and secure athletic glory for their schools. This year’s staging kicked off on Tuesday, March 19, at the National Stadium and is scheduled to conclude tonight.

As the final day of the event kicks off Saturday morning, KC and Edwin Allen enter day five, having topped the points table for day four among the 101 boys and 97 girls schools participating in Champs 2024. For the boys’ points standing, KC leads with 182 points, with Jamaica College in second place with 134 points.

KC’s arch-rivals, Calabar High, closed day four off in third place with 88 points. Rounding out the remainder of the top ten are St. Jago High, Excelsior High, St. Elizabeth Technical High, Wolmers Boys, Munro College, St. George’s College, and Cornwall College with 74, 72, 31, 29, 21, 18, and 16 points, respectively.
KC has won the Boys Champs the last two consecutive years, and if they take home the title this year, it would be the school’s 35th overall title.
Edwin Allen leads the girl’s points standing for day four with 184 points. The reigning Girls Champs champions, Hydel High, finished day four in second place with 141 points. Prior to Hydel’s win in 2023, Edwin Allen took home eight consecutive wins, not including 2020, when Champs was cancelled due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Taking third place in the points standings is St. Jaggo High, with 81 points. Rounding out the remainder of the top ten are Immaculate High, Holmwood Technical, St. Catherine High, Wolmers Girls, Clarendon College, St. Elizabeth Technical, and Excelsior High, with 70.33, 57, 37, 34.5, 33, 26.33, and 23.33 points, respectively.
