Krystal Sloley takes Second Place with New Personal Best in the Women’s 100m at the 2024 Racers Grand Prix as St. Lucia’s Julian Alfred Takes First Place

The 2024 staging of the Racers Grand Prix took place on Saturday night, 22-year-old Krystal Sloley finished in second place in the women’s 100m. Sloley claimed second place with a 10.99s finish, a new personal best for the young athlete. Her compatriot, 28-year-old Forbes finished third with a new season-best of 11.05s.
Sloley and Nelson previously met on the track in May at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational, with Sloley finishing second ahead of Nelson, who finished third.
Tonight, Slowly sprinted out of the blocks in good form, holding a good pace down the 100m stretch, but was unable to come out in front of Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred. Alfred secured first place, finishing in 10.78s, the meeting record.
The Racers Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver level meet, has showcased the best of both Jamaican and international rising athletic stars and renowned athletes since 2016. Saturday night saw several Jamaican athletes vying for the top spot in the highly anticipated 100m sprint.

Jamaican sprinters, Tina Clayton, who started in lane 1 and has a personal best (PB) of 10.95 seconds as well as a season best (SB) of 11.20 seconds. The 19-year-old’s compatriots, Alana Reid (SB 11.09s and PB 10.92s), Kemba Nelson (SB 11.12s and PB 10.88s), Shashalee Forbes (SB 11.11s and PB 10.96s), and Krystal Sloley (SB 11.09s and PB 11.09s), Remona Burchell ( SB 11.26s PB 11.03s), kicked off the race in lanes 4, 7, 6, 2, and 8, respectively.
