Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce To Open 100m Season Today In Kingston
After months of anticipation as to when arguably the greatest female printer ever will open her last season, it was announced on Friday that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be running the 100m at the JAAA’s French Foray Meet at the National Stadium in Kingston on June 15, 2024.
ShashaLee Forbes, Ashanti Moore, Jodean Williams and juniors Sabrina Dockery and Shanoya Douglas are expected to compete against the 37-year-old three-time Olympic champion.
Despite being absent from the track at major meets so far this season, Fraser-Pryce has been training hard, frequently sharing scenes from her training sessions on social media.
It’s unclear if Fraser-Pryce will be competing in the 200m this season. Shelly-Ann is also yet to comment about her participation at the meet on Saturday, her most recent social media post had the caption, “Just a girl from Waterhouse determined to fulfil my potential”.
Earlier this year, Fraser-Pryce announced that she would be retiring after participating in this year’s Summer Olympics in Paris.
The JAAA’s French Foray Meet is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm and ends around 7:30 pm. The meet is designed to assist Jamaican senior athletes in preparation for the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, France.
It’s expected that Fraser-Pryce will compete next at the Jamaica Olympic Trials which is scheduled for June 27-30 at the National Stadium.
