West Indies Defeated By England In World T20

On Wednesday, June 19, the West Indies took on England at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet in Saint Lucia.

The match which started at 8:30 PM had the host of the tournament batting first after England won the toss and put in the opponent to bat in the ICC T20 World Cup Super Eight Group 2 encounter.

The Caribbean team raised an “Ok” total of 180 runs off 20 overs, with wicketkeeper batsman Johnson Charles top scoring for the Windies with 38 runs, while Powell and Pooran knocked 36 runs each.

England who are the defending champions in the tournament was 78 for 1 at 9 overs, compared to the West Indies being at 74 without loss over the same amount of overs during their innings, hence a little bit between the two teams midway each innings.

England who had to make 181 runs to win, after 11 overs was at 91 for 2, notably they did not loss anymore wicket.

As the game was in the balance, England managed to knock 30 runs off one over, putting them into a good position to with the game which they did in the 17th over, winning the match by 8 wickets.

This marks the West Indies’ first defeat in their last 9 twenty twenty games.

The West Indies will next play against the United States on Friday, June 21.

West Indies now sits at the bottom of Group B, the top two teams will advance to the simi finals.
