Vybz Kartel Turning to God and Away from the Microphone
Only time will tell when Vybz Kartel will make a day pass without posting on social media, his latest of multiple posts made on Saturday shows him eating what appears to be a healthy meal. The video features audio from Sidem Öztürk talking about her critics.
“A lot of people used to say Sidem is an idiot! Watch her, Kartel is not coming out of prison, she’s so foolish,” she says in the video, however, Vybz Kartel’s reaction to the critics is, “For we walk by Faith, not by Sight 2 Corinthians 5:7”.

The quoting of the bible is the Portmore native’s latest of many mentions of the teachings of God, something he did not do much prior to his incarceration. On the other hand, something he did a lot in the past is record new music, ‘7 songs a day’ which is something he does not seem to do nowadays.
He also got a new facial tattoo that says “Love God”, which is a change of tone from his earlier lyrics saying “to how mi BC bad mi nuh must know God” and also calling himself “father devil” and “daddy devil”.
Notably, since his release, the public has yet to see him in a studio or recording music despite the many videos that have been circulating of him online since his release. While he mentioned in his interview with Anthony Miller that he has a lot of songs stored and prime for release, he did not mention when he will be putting out new music.
Also, his first show is four months away hence no major performance is expected from him before then. Nevertheless, one would expect that amidst all his endeavours, new music will be released or at least some type of musical endeavour like his former co-accused Shawn Storm who shot and released two visualisers since being freed on July 31.
The deejay has hinted about joining politics, notably, no politician performs music, hence one can only imagine that music will be placed on the back burner should he walk into politics. Furthermore, with all due respect to the serial hit maker, he has been unable to get a hit in the genre for multiple years despite releasing many songs.
It might be a bit far fetch, but could the deejay walk away from Dancehall like fellow artiste Lady Saw?
