In a candid interview with Lil Yachty on the A Safe Place podcast, released on December 18, Lil Baby addressed the memes and jokes that have often surrounded his friendships with Michael Rubin and James Harden.
The rapper made it clear that these memes, particularly the ones involving him and his friends, deeply bother him, explaining his discomfort with the false narratives they create.
Lil Baby specifically opened up about the viral photos that surfaced from Michael Rubin’s annual white party, where he was seen in an intimate “sandwich” hug with two other men, with Michael Rubin and James Harden.
The photo quickly went viral, leading to a flurry of online jokes and memes. In the podcast, Lil Baby explained that he had spoken directly to Rubin about the photo before it even went viral. “I can’t have pictures like that,” he told Rubin, emphasizing that with so many people around at the party, there was nothing inappropriate happening.
Despite his concerns, Lil Baby decided against sharing security footage from Rubin’s house that could have cleared up any misunderstandings, wanting to avoid further escalating the situation.
The rapper revealed how much these jokes and memes affect him, saying, “I don’t play with n***s period, on no funny weird sht,” reinforcing his stance on not tolerating false narratives or humor at his expense.
Lil Baby outlined that certain things simply aren’t jokes for him, and the memes about his relationships with Michael Rubin and James Harden go beyond harmless fun. In addition, the reaction from 50 Cent, who called out the photo with his trademark harshness, only added fuel to the fire.
In the over an hour long interview, Lil Baby who is currently 30 years old also talked on some of the negative comments about his children and wanting his family to have more children.
