The trial date was confirmed on Wednesday, January 8, when both men appeared in court and were remanded in custody.

The charges stem from the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Chadwell Frazer, also known as ‘Bomb Brain’ or ‘Chad’; 24-year-old Chamario ‘Chippy’ Calvin; and 26-year-old Toniann ‘Too Fly’ Reid. The incident reportedly occurred at a birthday party on Marl Road in Rose Heights, St James, on May 25, 2022.

In total, five individuals were shot with one dying the same day, two others died later. Shab Don was charged with three counts of murder in June 2022.

The case, overseen by High Court Justice Judith Pusey, faced a temporary delay as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) revealed that a key prosecution witness is currently overseas and in custody. Efforts are underway to secure the witness’s testimony remotely.

Thompson Jr is being represented by King’s Counsel Tom Tavares-Finson and attorney Donahue Martin, while Khadine Coleman is defending Clark.

Shab Don, a prominent figure in Dancehall music, rose to fame in 2018 with Squash’s hit single ‘Money Fever‘. He is also known for producing Vybz Kartel’s chart-topping track ‘Any Weather‘. Despite his musical success, Shab Don’s legal troubles have cast a shadow over his career.

Shabdon is son of veteran Jamaicans musician Linval Thompson.
