Yellowman Explains Why he Favours Kartel over Beenie Man

The original king of the Dancehall, Winston Foster OD better known as Yellowman has been extra vocal about the king of Dancehall status amidst the online saga between Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel, making several new statements on the matter on Sunday.

His new statements were made in a live-chat interview with Foota Hype. Before going into details, Foota Hype stated, “I don’t think this king thing must be up for any argument, because there is too much grounds to cover that has not been covered for anybody else to say them a king.”

Foota next made note that Shabba Ranks calls himself ‘Emperor’ out of respect for Yellowman’s king status. “Weh Yellowman duh, it nuh ketch up yet and it nah guh out do,” outlines Foota Hype.

In the interview Footer detailed the various countries he has performed in over the years, highlighting that he performed in Israel which is next to Gaza, somewhere that Kartel himself is yet to perform.

Despite throwing shades at both Beenie Man and Kartel, Yellowman who turned 69 years old on January 15 details that he’s more of a fan of the Portmore deejay than Moses Davis. “Mi nah beat dung Kartel because me rather Kartel than the snake,” said Yellowman before further referring to Beenie Man as a ‘liad’.

“Inna reality, the lizard is not an evil, the nake is more an evil… the Lizard run from we,” Yellowman also said as he followed up on his previous argument of Kartel being a lizard and Beenie Man being a snake.

Before the interview ended, Yellowman was asked who he would hand down the king’s crown to. In response, Yellowman asked, “Did Michael Jackson hand down the king of pop? Did Bob Marley hand down the king of Reggae?.. Did Beres Hammond hand down the king of one-drop?”

After asking the questions, Yellowman outlines that he’s not about to hand over the king of Dancehall crown to no one.

In the chat, the veteran Dancehaller also noted that artistes such as Shabba, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Daddy U-Roy, Peter Metro and many others set the foundation for Dancehall as we know it now.

Howman Children Yellowman has? Yellowman details that he has six children, four boys and two girls which resulted in him now having eleven grandchildren.
