The Grammy’s Best Reggae Album award recognises albums of excellence in the Jamaican-created genres of Reggae, Ska, and Dancehall. While Dancehall’s prominence in Jamaica over Reggae is undeniable, its practitioners, especially over the past few years, have had a hard time competing against Reggae worldwide.

Shenseea born Chinsea Linda Lee, now 28 years old, previously received Grammy recognition for her contribution to rapper Ye’s album Donda. In 2024, after highlighting that she was not done with Dancehall, Shenseea stated “I have to win a Reggae Grammy… I need to win a Reggae Grammy.”

Notably, the ‘Hit and Run’ artiste did not attend the Grammy’s when she was nominated for work done on YE’s album. Explaining her absence, she stated that she “need people to recognise” that she is waiting for “our time” and she will only attend the Grammys when she’s nominated for a Reggae Album.
