Music producer Linval ‘Shab Don’ Thompson and his co-defendant, Tajay Clarke, will know on March 4 whether the St James Circuit Court will permit an overseas witness to testify virtually during their upcoming trial. The two men are charged with a triple murder committed in Rose Heights, St James, on May 25, 2022.

Presiding High Court Justice Judith Pusey scheduled the ruling after Thompson and Clarke appeared in court on Tuesday. She also ordered both men to remain in custody. Thompson is represented by King’s Counsel Tom Tavares-Finson and attorney Donahue Martin, while Clarke is represented by attorney Khadine Colman.

“The matter is set for the judge to rule on the prosecution’s application for special measures, to allow a witness to give evidence by video link. The decision is to be handed down next Tuesday, March 4,” Tavares-Finson told The Gleaner.

The prosecution’s submission involves a witness awaiting trial on a murder charge in Florida, USA. The court has been considering the logistics of allowing this witness to testify remotely. The case, originally set for trial on February 19 following a prior hearing on January 8, has seen multiple delays due to this issue.

Thompson and Clarke face charges for the murders of Chamario ‘Chippy’ Calvin (24), Chadwell ‘Bomb Brain’ Frazer (27), and Toniann ‘Too Fly’ Reid (26). The victims were gunned down at a birthday party in Rose Heights when armed men opened fire on patrons. Multiple others were also shot and injured.

Despite efforts to secure bail, both men remain in custody.

Back in January, the hit maker reacted to a post about the ongoing problem plaguing the prosecution’s case. The post was liked by the Shab Don Records Instagram page.

In a recent livestream in which Jamaican TikToker Blam Dem talked on Dancehall artiste Squash’s associate being the ‘Overseas Witness’ that might testify against Shab Dopn. Shab Don comment on Blam Dem’s livestream saying “Real Talk”.
