Almost a month after the trial began, 36-year-old rapper Rakim Athelston Mayers whose real name is A$AP Rocky was found not guilty on Tuesday avoiding up to 24 years of prison time.
In late 2024, Rocky pleaded not guilty and turned down a deal that would have resulted in him spending almost 6 months in jail. Over the past two weeks, Rihanna‘s attendance and support of her partner as been one of the highlights of the trial.
Furthermore, after learning of the not guilty verdict on Tuesday, Rockey ran off to hug Rihanna and other family members in a heartfelt dramatic moment which shows the relief Rocky felt after hearing that he will not have to do jail time. He also seemingly cried while reacting to the verdict.
While on the stand, during the trial, A$AP Relli stated that while Rocky did not point and shoot at him during the incident four years ago, he fired a shot that struck him on the hand. In reply, Rocky’s legal team argued that the gun brandished by Rocky was fake hence Relli was not shot.
Following the verdict, Rocky stated, “Thank y’all for saving my life,” while exiting the Los Angeles court with his legal team and family.
