Accident Leaves Two Motorcyclists Dead

Motorcyclists accounted for 29 percent of persons killed so far this year on the roads, passengers 21 percent and pedestrians 23 percents.

Two men from Wakefield and Deeside, Trelawny who were not wearing helmets died in a road accident which involved a public passenger vehicle on Sunday night.

The deceased, were identified as 24-year-old Ramone Spence and 17-year-old Sanjay Richards they were riding towards Deeside.

The two bike riders died on the spot, while the minibus driver and four passengers suffered minor injuries.
It was reported that they slammed into the Toyota Hiace minibus that was heading towards Deeside at about 9:50 pm.
There are new laws that are being passed that will protect Motorbike riders and pillion riders, the price of Motor cycles will include the cost of the Helmet and a protective vest.

Minister of Transport and Mining, Robert Montaque spoke at a High-Level symposium at the Iberostar Hotel in Rosehall, St James, about the new license that the Motorbike dealers will need in order to conduct business in Jamaica.
