Rushane Barnett, the 23-year-old man accused of the ghastly Cocoa Piece quintuple murder, could now possibly be facing additional charges after allegations he had sex with a minor.
According to Tamika Harris, who will be representing the accused in the upcoming trial, her client was served Thursday by the police and will have to attend an identification parade concerning a sex crime involving a minor whose identity is unknown.
It is alleged that Barnett had sexual intercourse with the underage female between April 8 and 12, however, Harris will challenge the police’s decision to include her client in the identification parade on the basis that several pictures of him have been circulating across social media.
Charges have not yet been made, but if they are, Barnett would be standing trial for Carnel Abuse as well as the murder of 31-year-old Kimesha Smith, her children Kimanda Smith 15, Sharalee Smith, 12, Rafaella Smith,5, and Kishawn Henry Jr who was 23- months old. It was for the murders listed above that Barnett was served with a Death Penalty Notice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) earlier this week.
Barnett is currently set to return to court on July 28 after his court-ordered psychiatric evaluation.
