It has been announced that the Argentine government will declare Tuesday a national holiday in celebration of the nation’s football team’s victory at the World Cup. Considering the team’s heroics at the just-concluded Qatar World Cup, this is not surprising.

In a statement on Monday, the Argentine football federation said the holiday was chosen so the whole nation “can express their deepest joy for the national team.”

As reported by ESPN, Argentina’s national football team will celebrate its World Cup victory in Buenos Aires at the iconic Obelisk, which is the traditional heart of all sporting celebrations in the city. On Sunday, more than a million football fans descended on the streets to celebrate the victory.

“The world champion squad will leave on Tuesday at noon for the Obelisk to celebrate the world title with the fans,” announced the Argentina Football Association through Twitter.

It was a day to remember for the national team, which won the coveted football trophy against France on Sunday in a nail-biting encounter. Tuesday is forecast to be a busy day for them when they arrive in Argentina.
