Beaches and Rivers Reopen as Government Relaxes Coronavirus Restrictions

Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie spoke at a digital media press conference recently and he revealed that water attractions like pools were to remain closed, but beaches will be opened to the public today for 14 days for swimming and jogging and rivers will be opened as well.

However, other activities such as beach parties, board games and other social gatherings are still banned, as it is important that the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic is contained.

The protocols to be observed were outlined by the Minister. Beaches and rivers were closed to the public for several weeks as the Government struggled to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The new school year will beginning in September for Jamaican students.
