Blak Ryno Talks on Vybz Kartel’s Release, Freedom Street Concert and Addresses Shawn Storm
Shawn Storm recently spoke unfavourably of former Gaza Empire crew member Blak Ryno, while talking highly of fellow ex-crew member Popcaan. In an effort to talk his side of the situation, Blak Ryno did an interview that was released on September 4.
According to Ryno, he is happy to see Vybz Kartel released from prison because he only spent a month behind bars in the past hence he can only imagine what almost 13 years would be like.
In the interview done with the Fix, the Stinga also expressed that Kartel gave him his big break, “a him put mi a road,” so regardless of the two not seeing eye to eye, he’s “the Don”.
As it relates to The Zombie, he’ll not “try style him… mi neva try style him yet,” says Ryno who is currently living overseas. He further detailed that he assisted Shawn Storm in the past and he won’t say anything to tear him down. He also recalls initially knowing Shawn Storm as a “bus driver and mechanic” not as a gangster.
In recent times Blak Ryno showed support to Vybz Kartel and the Gaza crew regarding their prison release, he also contacted Shawn Storm several years ago via text messages. In his recent interview also done with The Fix, Shawn Storm said that despite the deejay putting out a screenshot of a conversation they had in the past, to him Ryno is showing the message to the public to gain attention.
However, according to Blak Ryno, all he was doing was showing loyalty by shouting out his “Don” and it was not an effort to ride their wave or “run een”.
Blak Ryno was asked about the possibility of him performing at Kartel’s December 31 Freedom Street Concert to which he responded by saying he would, but the whole world knows that will not happen, given the current distanced relationship he has with Vybz Kartel.
“The world need love and unity… Just glad seh the dawg come a road and the dawg ago duh him concert and tun up the wul scheme,” Ryno outlined.
Further on in the interview, he was asked whether or not he would clash with Shawn Storm in a lyrical battle to which he responded by saying that Shawn Storm is not worthy of a clash with him, “him have song fi clash?” Ryno asked.
With regards to him being afraid of Kartel, causing a move to America, Ryno stated that he did not migrate because he was afraid and recalled being in Jamaica up to 5 years after they initially fell out.
According to the deejay, he moved overseas for business purposes and living overseas has been more fruitful for him than being in Jamaica.
