Bob Marley Estate Collabs with Adidas for Special Edition Sneakers – Photos

German athletic apparel and footwear brand Adidas is set to release a special edition of its SL 72 running sneaker in collaboration with the estate of Jamaican Reggae legend Bob Marley.

Marley passed away relatively young, when his career had begun to move beyond the established boundaries of Jamaican artistes. Nonetheless, he created a legacy that has maintained a lasting impact to this day.

Adidas previously honoured the iconic artiste, releasing their Jamaican-inspired clothing collection earlier this month for his birthday. The One Love singer was often photographed rocking Adidas-branded apparel, including their SL 72. 

Earlier this month, Marley’s granddaughter, Zuri Marley, teased the release of the special edition sneaker on TikTok. According to Complex, Adidas will be officially releasing the retro SL 72 in its Summer 2024 range. 

The special edition will feature a black-and-white rendering of an iconic photo of Marley as well as his name on the tongue and sock liner. Marley’s signature will also be featured in gold on the sneaker’s heel. 

Bob Marley x Adidas SL 72 will be available in black with a green, yellow, and wine-coloured sole.
