Bouwahjgie Nkrumie Sets New Jamaica Under 20 Record 9.99 at Champs – Watch Race

In a well-executed race, Kingston Collage’s Bouwahjgie Nkrumie shocked most Jamaicans by clocking a sub-10 time in the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships, stopping the clock at 9.99 on Wednesday in the Class 1, 100m final.
Notably, Nkrumie ran 10.08 to win the semi-final of the event, setting a new class 1 record in the process, the old record of 10.12 stood since 2014 and was set by fellow Kingston College runner Zharnel Hughes.
Nkrumie is the first Jamaican to ever run lesser than 10 seconds over the 100-metre distance. The 19-year-old KC sprinter is the third junior athlete to clock a sub-10 time in the history of the sport
Nkrumie also ran an impressive 10.02 seconds in the 100m final at the World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia in 2022, setting a new junior record in the process.
