Jamaica’s sprint sensation Brianna Lyston secured herself a place at the Louisiana State University (LSU).
This announcement was made today, June 23, on the LSU Track and Field school’s sports team Instagram page in which they welcomed the talented 18-year-old sprinter to their team.
“Welcome, Brianna Lyston!” the caption of the post stated as well as listing her bio and personal records in the 100m and 200m races.
See post below:
Earlier this year, Lyston achieved her personal best in the 200m race with a time of 22.53 seconds to win the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships. Likewise, on March 15, the Jamaican sprinter won the 100m with a time of 11.14 seconds at the Central Athletic Championships.
She also competed in the Under-20 women’s 4×100 relay to secure gold with fellow team members, Tia and Tina Clayton and Serena Cole at the 49th Carifta Games at the National Stadium in Kingston.
With Lyston’s impressive record in track and field so far, she is expected to be a force in the sport like former LSU Jamaican students, Natoya Goule-Topping, an Olympic and World Championship 800m finalist and Nickeisha Wilson, a 400m hurdler.
