Buju Banton Blames ‘Trash Music’ For No Jamaican Winning Grammy Award

Reggae veteran Buju Banton has given his opinion on the recent situation that saw the American Music group, Soja, winning the Reggae Grammy award over several persons native to Jamaica.

Nominated alongside the America Reggae band were Spice, Gramps Morgan, Sean Paul, Etana and Jesse Royal but when it was realized that none of those artistes got the winning opportunity there was an outcry from Jamaicans questioning the Award show about the decision made.

As for the “Gargamel”, he shared his opinion on the matter in a recent interview done while on the “love and harmony cruise” event, that was also broadcasted on Irie FM and according to the entertainer who has already won a Grammy award in his career, Jamaican artistes are making trash music and are blind to the consequences of what he refers to as the ramification of the industry, which has played a bad card on them.

The sentiments shared by Buju Banton come after entertainers such as Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel and even Foota Hype expressed their minds on the matter, bashing the body governing the awards ceremony for them giving a white American band the preference to win the Reggae Grammy over Jamaicans.

On the other hand, though, The artistes from out of the island have also been getting their fair share of criticism since the “Gargamel”, as well as the popular selector, has made it clear that the songs that are being made are not the best.

As for Buju, he was awarded in the year 2011 with the Reggae Grammy which he won after releasing the album “Before The Dawn” which featured songs such as “Rasta Can’t Go”, “Bondage”, “Life” and “No Smoking At All”.
