Carnival in Jamaica on the rise, While major Dancehall events on the down
[Sharingbuttons]The officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment are happy to have another income source for the country. Carnival has been supported by the locals and the visitors as well. As everyone came out in their costumes to dance and have fun as they enjoy Carnival.
The numbers for Xamayca has grown; 1800 females and 400 males counted this year and there are other bands that have grown as well.
Reliable sources gave a report about the number of tourists who visited the island during the time of the road show was 5,1384 and 9000 of that number visited Kingston during the time of the Road Show. A 22.8 percent increase over the amount that came last year.
The Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment has been involved with Carnival for just 2 years. However, it doesn’t seem as if their involvement with it will end anytime soon, as the hotels in Kingston were fully booked and there were a lot of activities throughout the city during Carnival time.
Helping more Jamaicans to earn some of the Tourism dollars can be seen as the thing that motivated the Ministry to get on board with promoting Carnival, and having it in Kingston. A number of hardworking Jamaicans earned from businesses, the food sellers, the Barbers, hairdressers and other professionals have reported that they earn more during the time.
Economic growth is all about finding new ways to earn and it is good to see that the people are getting involved in Carnival not only to have fun, but to earn as well.
