His wife, Malvia Scott had dispelled rumours in January of last year that the artiste died. At the time, Scott had shared that Cocoa Tea was ill and hospitalised. However, she did not disclose the details of his illness.

Following her husband’s passing on March 11, 2025, Scott shared with the Jamaica Gleaner that Cocoa Tea was battling pneumonia in addition to lymphoma.

“I got a call early this morning to say that he had been transferred from the facility to the hospital … which is like five minutes away … because he was vomiting. He was initially diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019, but for the last six months he was also struggling with pneumonia,” Scott said.

She further shared that despite his illness, Cocoa Tea remained optimistic and brave. During his previous hospitalisation three weeks ago, the Good Life singer assured her that she did not have to worry because everything would be alright.
