Damian Jr. Gong Marley wins 2018 Reggae Grammy Award
[Sharingbuttons]The 2018 Grammy award Goes To Damian Jr Gong Marley who out performed his fellow Jamaican contestants. Three Jamaicans were among the 5 artistes competing for Best Reggae Album at The 60th Grammy Awards which took place today January 28 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. the Nominees include Chronology by Chronixx; Stony Hill (Damian Marley); Avrakedabra (Morgan Heritage); Lost In Paradise (Common Kings) and Wash House Ting by (J Boog).
This is Damian’s third Grammy, he previously won Grammy Best Reggae Album trophies for Half Way Tree and Welcome to Jamrock.
Last year the coveted award was win by Ziggy Marley, the other nominees includes: Devin Di Dakta & J.L – Sly & Robbie Presents…Reggae For Her, J Boog – Rose Petals, Raging Fyah – Everlasting, Rebelution – Falling Into Place, SOJA – Live in Virginia.
The first reggae Grammy was warded back in 1985 to Black Uhuru for “Anthem”, other nominees back then includes:
Jimmy Cliff – “Reggae Nights”
Steel Pulse – “Steppin’ Out”
Peter Tosh – Captured Live
Yellowman – King Yellowman
