D’Angel Raises Funds to Assist the Poor with her COVID-19 Relief Concert

D’Angel, the “first lady” of the Dancehall says even though her COVID-19 Relief Concert did not meet the US$200,000 target, she is still overwhelmed by the support she received.

The event was held on Instagram Live last Friday, and saw performances from D’Angel, Beenie Man, G Whizz and Singing Melody. It was held to raise funds to purchase essential items for care packages.

She told http://jamaica-star.com only J$225,000 was made, but she won’t be giving up.

There are donations and commitments that are still pending, and there are persons who still want to donate and there is room for them. The channels are still open via CashApp: $2006MD, and Zelle: angelsproduction@gmail.com

She is also open to other methods of donation that persons might find to be more accessible, such as bank transfers and remittances. Her DM is always open, and people can feel free to reach out there to her. “This is a very worthy cause and we will continue to push it. We set out to help and we will do that, no matter the circumstances,” she said.

D’Angel says she is looking to prepare the first set of packages and is hoping to start distribution this week with the funds raised.

During this week there will be a full-on drive to have the first set of packages ready for delivery. People were identified who are in desperate need of help; they reached out to her already, and others received national attention. D’Angel’s team is working on identifying a few partners to assist with bags, supplies, and other things, to coordinate the physical aspect of the relief efforts.

 D’Angel Appreciates Support

She reported that the response was overwhelming. She couldn’t even begin to count the number of comments, compliments and calls received and they are still coming in. The team worked very hard so that it came together well, it showed in the way the viewers responded.

The dancehall artiste saw that people were impressed and she is happy about that. Her colleagues who performed were ready when she asked them to, as they recognize the impact of the pandemic on the world and they were willing to give back and do their part. She couldn’t ask for more.

D’Angel expressed gratitude to the artistes and her team for their assistance in planning and executing the event, she still felt it was successful.
