Demarco is celebrating friendships in his latest song, Go My Best Friend, and the artiste dropped the official music video for the single on Friday.
Like the multiple hit Dancehall songs that Demarco has worked on behind the scenes, Go My Best Friend was produced by the deejay. The music video was directed by cinematographer Jesse James, who has worked with artistes such as Govana and Lila Ike.
The video opens with a sequence filmed on an all-white set, contrasting with Demarco and his crew’s all-black attire. A picturesque estate and scenes from a nighttime bonfire on a beach are also featured in the video.
Go My Best Friend‘s lyrics are focused on celebrating what friends have achieved, and Demarco praises his friends and their accomplishments in the song’s hook.
“You a step up in a life and a set trend, affi celebrate yuh. Go my best friend. Haters dem a guh talk. Just let them, long as a nuh threat send. Go my best friend,” Demarco deejays in the chorus.
Demarco goes on to declare his unwavering loyalty in the song’s first verse and highlights the importance of being there for the people who are there for you.
“Pledge allegiance pon di battlefield fi mi friend. Neva leave one; find dem in any state, any region. Retaliation is a must; ask Elon. Defend mi friend dem any weh all when a me one. Cherish di real friend dem when yuh receive one,” Demarco deejays.
