“Devoted Christian” Ninja Man Set To Appeal His Murder Conviction
“We have requested the notes of evidence in the six week period of the trial – it took one year to get Vybz Kartel’s notes – so we will see how that goes. We are prepared to go all the way to the Privy Council, it will not be easy, we will have to organise fundraising events but we believe that Ninjaman has enough supporters to assist him,” Ninjaman’s lawyer, Queen’s Counsel Valerie Neita Robertson told Loop News
According to Neita Robertson, Ninja Man has indicated that he is a “Christian” and that he is innocent and confident of a successful appeal.
Neita Robertson revealed that she will appeal on the grounds that her client Ninja Man did not receive a fair trial.
“The defence has no control over the selection of juries. Plus, in jurisdictions that we associate with, the UK, the US and Canada, in serious matters such as murder, there are always 12 member juries. A seven member jury is more likely to be influenced by group pressure and group views,” she said.
She also highlighted the delays in the case which saw 17 trial dates and 23 mentions before the actual trial began six weeks ago.
This she revealed deprived Ninja Man of his alibi witnesses to substantiate his argument that he was Mandeville at the time of the killing.
Ninja Man and his co-convicts will be sentenced on the 15th of December
