Double Murder in Highgate, St. Mary

A student of Guys Hill High School and a correctional officer were shot and killed in the community of Highgate, St. Mary, by unknown assailants on Sunday.

According to reports, the student and the officer were both residents of Capture Land in Highgate, St. Mary. The deceased warder has been identified as 22-year-old Geovanni Higgins, also known as Marcus. The authorities have identified the student as 16-year-old Nathan Segree, also known as Pazzy.

Reports state that Higgins and Segree were travelling on a motorcycle and came to a stop at a playfield in the vicinity of St. Mary High School at approximately 6:30 p.m. A white Toyota Axio motorcar approached, from which two gunmen jumped and began firing on Segree and Higgins before fleeing.

They were shot several times and sustained gunshot wounds in multiple areas of their body. Higgins and Segree were taken to the Port Maria Hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to their injuries.

The authorities have not yet established a motive for the attack.
