In June 2018 Drake confirmed that he had a son “Adonis” with Sophie Brussax, the rapper also revealed recently, that he felt ‘great’ sharing his son with the world, and he explained why it felt ‘freeing’ to tell everyone.
When he spoke to fellow rapper Lil Wayne, while he was on Young Money Radio, he said: ‘It was great for me. It was great to just share that with the world and I just felt like… it wasn’t even anything I talked to anybody about or anything I planned. ‘I just woke up one morning and I was like, you know what? This is just something that I want to do.’ Now he feels as if fatherhood has changed his life, he wants to go places with his son and share memories with him.
He doesn’t want to feel as though, because of a life choice he made to be a ‘celebrity’ he has to make everybody live under this blanket. So, he just wanted to free himself of that. Drake also stated that he was ‘inspired when he saw’ his labelmates, such as Lil Wayne and others, being able to focus on music and still take care of their children at the same time, he credited the Young Money record label for allowing him to do that as well.
He spoke about watching Wayne being a functioning rap father for years, “he has been an incredible father,” Drake said. ‘And that gave him a lot of confidence. Chainz, is a great father and a lot of the other guys that grew up with him have just become great family men, he reflected on those long studio nights when albums need to get done.
However, Drake released an album of leaks and one-off tracks, it is called the Dark Line Demo Tapes – and he has revealed that he could drop a new studio album this summer. He’s really spoiling his fans.
But specifically, he highlighted how Wayne always just made that s**t function and how much love the people in his life have for him, and he could just tell by the way his kids would stare at him, that the time and effort that he put in as a father was worth it. That was really inspiring for Drake just to know that he can still keep pushing forward as a musician and still be there for his son.
