Following speculation as to why he was not included in the Reggae Boyz lineup for their CONCACAF Nations League matches against Grenada and Haiti, Dujuan “Whisper” Richards has been added to the national team’s squad.
The Boyz are set to face off against Grenada and Haiti on October 11 in Grenada and October 15 in Trinidad and Tobago, respectively. Richards’ agent and Phoenix Football Academy founder, Craig Butler, expressed confusion regarding the footballer’s omission from the squad in a recent interview.
After varied speculation, the 17-year-old was added to the Boyz’ 23-man squad, which includes Pheonix Academy alumni Leon Bailey. Richards’ addition to the squad was announced on Tuesday by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).
In addition to Richards’ inclusion in the squad, the JFF announced Javain Brown, Adrian Mariappa, and Renaldo Cephas’ removal from the Reggae Boyz’ Nations League team. According to the JFF, Cephas is out due to flight challenges, Brown due to injury, and Mariappa due to personal reasons.
