“I felt something uncomfortable as I began to push I still tried to go but it got worse” so I am awaiting professional advice moving forward” thanks for your continuous support 🙏🏾,” Thompson-Herah wrote.
The athlete received an outpouring of support in response to her message, with Dancehall artiste Spice writing, “I love you my Sprint Queen, Speedy recovery. I support you all the way, Win lose or draw 💙💙💙💙.”
Alyshia Miller-Powell, model and wife of former sprinter Asafa Powell, also extended kind words in the comment section.
“Sending you love and positive energy. Praying for a fast recovery & healing ❤️ ETH,” Miller-Powell wrote.
Prior to yesterday’s meet, Thompson-Herah finished last in her 100m season opener at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic in May. The sprinter has been suffering from a longstanding Achilles injury for several years.
